Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT SERVICES DO YOU OFFER?

We offer Christian Coaching and Counseling to individuals 18 and older who are looking to walk in a greater measure of healing, wholeness, and purpose.

Our Counseling Services help people facing emotional and relational challenges from a Christian perspective. The emotional challenges we typically address include Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Trauma, Insecurity, Anger, Unforgiveness, or other emotional struggles. The relational challenges we typically address would include Marital, Parenting, and Conflict Resolution.

Our Life Coaching Services addresses the gap that often exists between where people are in life and where they want to be. This gap can be difficult to cross by yourself, and this is where a coach can be a powerful catalyst for change. Christian Life Coaching focuses on solutions and achieving positive results by helping people achieve their goals, and allowing them to walk in healthy expressions of their purpose. We typically address Life Goals, Finding a Healthy Life Rhythm, Career/Ministry Transition, Time Management, Leadership, and Communication Skills.

ARE YOUR COUNSELORS AND COACHES LICENSED/CERTIFIED?

We are a Bible-based Christian Coaching and Counseling Center. While we respect experts and specialists in the mental health field, we believe that Scripture coupled with Christian Counseling/Coaching techniques and training provide a guide for Biblical care to those who are hurting, stuck, or desirous of change.

Our Coaches and Counselors have education and training that demonstrate their knowledge and ongoing commitment to their field, which supports their area of ministry. However, we are not Psychiatrists or Psychologists, Licensed by the State of Florida.

We do refer individuals to local licensed professionals when needed.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO COUNSELING AND COACHING?

We are committed to providing a Spirit-Led Biblical approach to counseling and Coaching. Your Coach/Counselor is a Spirit-filled Christian with special training and experience in applying the truths of the Bible to life’s circumstances and challenges. We believe that the Bible ultimately points us to a person and a relationship – Jesus Christ as our Savior and your Coach/Counselor will help you apply those truths to your life. We believe that real change comes when people learn to see themselves and their problems in the context of a living, vital relationship with Christ and begin to apply their learning to their lives.

DOES ONE NEED TO BE A CHRISITIAN IN ORDER TO BENEFIT FROM THESE SERVICES?

One does not need to be a Christian to profit from coaching/counseling, although we believe that only God Himself brings about deep and lasting change. Biblical teaching, resources, and prayer are components of each session.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR YOUR SERVICES?

Any individual desiring healing, wholeness, purpose, or change in some area of their life and who is eighteen years old or older.

ARE MEETINGS CONFIDENTIAL?

ARISE Coaching and Counseling Center offers a collaborative approach to confidentiality in that a client’s coach/counselor may seek council from other coaches/counselors on the team and/or one of the pastoral staff of ARISE Church in an effort to provide the best care possible. Therefore, our counselors/coaches operate as agents of the church, offering the highest level of confidentiality possible but are not agents of the state (licensed counselors) and as a result are not held to the same confidentiality standards.

In the case of marriage or family counseling, there is limited confidentiality, meaning the confidentiality belongs to the relationship and not to the individual.

DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

Because we are a Biblical-based counseling center, we do not prescribe medication or make advisements on medication. However, we regularly work with individuals who are also seeing other care professionals who are providing medication.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR COUNSELING/COACHING?

The first step is submitting a request for counseling/coaching. After submitting a request, you will typically hear from a member of our team within 48 hours. A member of our team will speak with you and make sure your needs and our services match. You will then be asked to complete preliminary forms and bring them to your first appointment.

HOW LONG IS A SESSION AND HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Each counselor has different preferences in their session lengths. Most counselors prefer a 50-minute session length, however, some prefer longer sessions. Your counselor will schedule your session for their preferred session length. The frequency and the number of sessions greatly depend upon the commitment of the client.

WHAT IS THE FEE PER SESSION AND HOW DO I PAY?

Each Coach/Counselor sets their own rate based upon their education, experience, and expertise. Rates range between $50 and $150 per hour. We accept card, check, and/or cash. We do not accept insurance.

ARISE Church members who are experiencing financial hardship may submit a Benevolence Request to the Church Office requesting assistance for counseling services. Each request is individually reviewed by the ARISE Benevolence Committee.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

We do require 24-hour notice of cancellation.

WHAT ARE THE CENTER’S OPERATING HOURS?

Each Coach/Counselor sets their own hours and will make this information known to you prior to your first session.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO MEET WITH AN ARISE PASTOR?

Our ARISE Pastors work in collaboration with the Coaching/Counseling Center. If you are actively attending ARISE, you may meet with one of our Pastors for up to three sessions per unique need. After which, you may be referred to our Center and/or one of the ARISE Prayer Ministries (Sozo, Healing House, or Deliverance).
